I am always looking for new and different ways to photograph newborns, I think they have a wonderful quality to look like the main focus of a Dutch still life painting and I like to exploit that idea whenever I have the chance. Sometime I use items that parents bring with them to our sessions like musical instruments, special books or sports equipment, other time like this one I have a wonderful and willing model in baby L and her parents and can go a little out of the box. The amazing Susan from Added Touch Celebration helped me get the butterflies in time since we did not know when exactly to expect baby L and after the shoot we set them free here at the studio. Below is a little sample from our session and I have to say the best and most unexpected part were all the smiles as the butterflies tickled L like crazy!

Belly Buttons and Butterflies
Wednesday, July 7th, 2010Snow Babies
Sunday, February 28th, 2010The winter has been all about babies this year and with the snow outside there is nothing like a warm sleeping baby to help with the cabin fever. This cute guy was was an amazing snoozer, he came in, settled down and two hours later we were done and he woke up. I had a great time with baby L and his parents and I think from the session images, he did too. Click on any of them to see the full shot and enjoy!

Friday, February 19th, 2010Twins Plus One
Friday, February 19th, 2010I though it could not get any cuter than tiny twin feet, but along comes their cousin baby A and now there are three! Here are some shots from my recent session with the twins and the one we did a few weeks later when A arrived. I had to put in all the smiles, because it is not often that week old babies give me these kinds of smiles, but if I was a part of this family I would too.
